Cumpleaños de chicas

El pasado junio fue el cumpleaños de una amiga y el santo de su hija así que decidí hacerles dos tarjetas para felicitarles, utilizando la misma imagen (Sun Kissed de Elisabeth Bell de Whimsy Stamps) que tuve la suerte de ganar hace un tiempo en el blog de la increíble Jacque. 

Last June was the birthday of one of my friends and her daughter's saint (I don't know if that can be said... ) so I decided to make two cards for them. I used the same image (Sun Kissed by Elisabeth Bell for Whimsy Stamps) that I luckily won some time ago on the blog of amazing Jacque.

Esta es la de mi amiga en la que utilicé papeles de la colección This & That por Lori Whitlock de Echo Park. Los pantalones, el parche, el borde de la camisa y el lazo del delantal están hechas de trozos de papel. La imagen la coloreé con lápices acuarelables y añadí un poco de Glossy Accent en las flores. La flor y las letras del feliz forman parte de una colección que Shelby de Color of Happy me mandó una vez que gané un regalo en su blog, son increíbles, verdad? El cumpleaños está escrito a mano con un rotulador de embossing y luego añadí polvos transparentes.

This one is my friend's one, I used papers of the This & That by Lori Whitcock collection for Echo Park. I paper pieced the trousers, the patch, part of the shirt and the apron's lace. I colored the image with watercolor pencils and I added Glossy Accent on the flowers. The flower and the Feliz letters are part of a collection that Shelby of Color of Happy sent me when I won a candy on her blog, they are soo cool! The cumpleaños letters are handwritten with an embossing pen, then I added clear embossing podwer.

Esta es la de la hija de mi amiga, los papeles son de un kit para hacer un calendario de Archiver's (uno de los regalos que gané en el blog de Shelby). La cinta me la envió Jacque. 

This is her daughter's, the papers are from a kit to make a calendar by Archiver's (one of the candies I won on Shelby's blog) The ribbon was sent by Jacque.

A mí me encanta como han quedado y lo más importante a ellas también!

I con corchos

Tenía por casa un montón de corchos así que me animé a hacer la I de mi nombre con ellos. Había visto muchas en Internet y me parece que queda muy chula.
I had at home many wine corks so I decided to make the "I" of Is with them. I had seen a lot of letters made with corks on the Internet and I think they're really cool.


Estos son los materiales: (y pegamento)
These are the supplies you'll need to make one: (and glue)

La forma de hacerlo no tiene ninguna dificultad.
1. Crear la letra que quieras utilizar
2. Recortarla en cartón
3. Pintarla del color del que vayas a pintar los corchos
4. Pintar los corchos (en las fotos no se aprecia mucho pero el color está degradado)
5. Pegar los corchos sobre el cartón

The how to is really simple.
1. Find the letter you'd like to use
2. Draw it on a piece of cardboard and cut it out
3. Paint it the color you like
4. Paint the corks the same color (you can't see it in the picture but the color goes from dark to light turquoise) 
5. Glue the corks on the cardboard


Y voilà! Ya tienes tu letra, ahora sólo falta que la adornes. Yo le he puesto una flor de esparto que le da un toque chic y todavía no sé si le voy a colgar en algún sitio o bien la pondré en una estantería...


And voilà! You have your letter, now you have to embellish it. I added a flower made of esparto grass that gives it a chic touch, I don't know yet if I'll hang it somewhere or I'll place it on the shelves...

Yo soy española

España es un país en el que más de 5.500.000 de personas no tienen trabajo, cuyos bancos necesitan ser rescatados, cuyo salario mínimo es muy inferior al de los países vecinos, cuyos políticos se ven inmersos en casos de corrupción, en el que están siendo recortados los derechos de los ciudadanos... en fin, un país del que no es fácil formar parte pero hoy hemos ganado la Eurocopa, así que por esta noche, sólo por esta noche, estaré orgullosa de corear el "Yo soy español, español, español, español..."

Spain is a country where more than 5.500.000 people don't have a job, where the banks need to be rescued, where the minimum wage is lower than in neighboring countries, where the politicians are involved in corruption cases, where the individual rights are being reduced... a country that is not easy to be part of, but today we won Euro 2012, so tonight, just tonight I'll be proud to sing "I'm Spanish, Spanish, Spanish..."

Muñeca de fieltro

Le hice este broche a mi madre hace un par de semanas, se supone que es ella, pelirroja, el flequillo y con los colores que le encanta vestir, la verdad es que no se parece demasiado pero, no es mona? Ella está encantada y lo lleva puesto casi todos los días!

El cuerpo, la cara y el pelo están hechos con fieltro. La ropa es de tela y los rasgos de la cara están cosidos, Las piernas y los brazos son cadenitas.

Le cosí un broche a la espalda y ya está lista para ver mundo.

A couple of weeks ago I made this brooch for my mom, it's supposed to be her, red hair, bangs, her favorite colors to dress.. the truth is they don't look much alike but, isn't she cute? My mom is delighted with it and wears it almost every day!

The body, face and hair are made of felt. The clothes are fabric and the eyes and mouth are sewed. The legs and arms are chains.

I sewed a brooch on her back and now she's ready to see the world.

Transferir con papel de congelar

Encima de una de las puertas de mi casa había este trozo de pared que estaba bastante soso así que decidí añadirle un cartel. Este ha sido mi primer intento de transferir algo con papel de congelar. La primera dificultad que me encontré fue comprar el papel, no es muy común, al final lo encontré en una tienda de productos americanos que se llama Taste of America. Creo que me costó unos 2 euros y pico y el rollo parece bastante largo. Había visto en Internet un montón de proyectos con este papel pero no me había fijado demasiado en el como así que tuve alguna dificultad. Por fin conseguí imprimir el texto en el papel, pero por la parte no encerada (como ya he dicho no había prestado la suficiente atención a los tutoriales). Coloqué el papel encima de la pared y comencé a frotar con una cuchara. Y este es el resultado, no ha quedado mal, verdad? No sé si el acabado como gastado se debe a que la superficie es una pared, o al haber impreso por la parte equivocada del papel pero... a mí me gusta! Aunque creo que le falta algo, a ver si encuentro algún arabesco o algo parecido para completarlo. Os dejo el documento por si os gustan las letras y queréis hacerlo.

There was an empty space above one of the doors of my house that looked kind of dull so I decided to add a sign. This has been my first attempt to use freezer paper to transfer something. I had seen on the Internet many projects using freezer paper but I didn’t pay much attention of the how to so I made some mistakes. I finally got the text printed on the paper but not on the waxy side (as I said before I should have read the tutorials... ) Anyway, I placed the paper on the wall and rubbed with a spoon. And this is how it turned out, not bad, right? I don’t know if the shabby finish it’s because I transferred it on a wall or because I printed it on the wrong side of the paper but … I like it! Although I think there’s something missing, I’ll look for some arabesques or something like that to finish it. Here’s the image in case you like the sign.

This is one of the latest cards I've made. I made it to celebrate Mother's Day. Here in Spain we celebrate it on the first Sunday of May. She loved it and it's hung up on her bedroom door!
